Welcome | Wedding Details

We hardly ever update this blog, but now we are going to post all wedding details here. So check back often. There are so many options when visiting Charleston...also many budget choices. So we decided not to block rooms at hotels. This way they type of Charleston vacation you have is your choice. When visiting the "Low Country" you have two choices....beach or historic downtown. John and I live in the coastal community of Mount Pleasant which is located between the beach and downtown! John and I will be staying at Patriots Point Hilton the night of the wedding. There is a fantastic "heated beach" bar located at this hotel.

*STAY TUNED*

  • We are working on providing transportation from the Patriots Point Hilton to the ceremony/reception and back after the wedding.

  • The rehearsal dinner will take place in Mount Pleasant, SC.
Mount Pleasant Hotels

The Patriots Point Hilton is located in Mount Pleasant, SC. There is a water taxi from this hotel that takes you downtown for exploring.

The Holiday Inn Express & Suites is located in Mount Pleasant, SC. This hotel is brand new and close to the Patriots Point Hilton. This hotel is also with in walking distance to the new Waterfront Memorial Park.

Downtown Charleston Hotels

Francis Marion Hotel is located downtown. This hotel is a wonderfully restored hotel right on Marion Square. Saturday mornings the square host an "amazing" farmers market. This hotel is located on King Street which is a Charleston mecca for shopping. You are also in walking distance of the old market and dozens of historic churches. This IS a great home base for exploring Charleston. To note...this is a historic hotel so the rooms are smaller.

Holiday Inn Charleston is located downtown. This hotel is also located off Marion Square and in walking distance to many downtown activities.

Things to do

The Market sits between Meeting Street and East Bay Street. There are lots of vendors and it is always fun to walk through. On either side of the Market there are restaurants and other little shops. Restaurants of note on this street would be Wild Wings (Wings and Beer) and Henry's great for jazz on the weekend.

Waterfront park is beautiful. There is a nice dock that has porch swings. It is a great place to relax. The park also has the famous pineapple fountain. You can get to this park by walking down Vendue Street (off East Bay Street.) While on Vendue there is a restaurant called the Library if you take the elevator to the top floor there is a bar called the rooftop. Very, very pretty views of the harbor.

King Street is the SHOPPING mecca. I advise walking from one end to the other. If you are looking for a fun restaurant Joe Pasta is always good and fairly inexpensive. There is also a restaurant called Basil that has a huge following (King and John street.)

Spend some time on the Battery. You can get to the battery by walking right onto East Bay Street. Lots to do and see for free. On this walk you will pass the "famous" Rainbow Row. Beautiful Gardens.
